CONTENTS OF OUR MANAGER'S REPORT

Most managers wonder if they are in tune or out of step with their "reports." The manager may think that others accept his views, agree with him, and even understand his policies. But what happens if they don't? The manager may believe that the few with whom he regularly works share his views and a common assessment of the challenges. It would be helpful to find out if this is true. However, even if they are "on the same page," what about those who report to them? If they have divergent opinions and have made different judgments about the properties and culture of the organization, the manager needs to know this. He has a deployment problem which could result in serious trouble depending on the location, extent, and subjects of the disagreements.

It is helpful to know the facts. Fact-based management begins with self-awareness and must incorporate an accurate awareness of what others are thinking and feeling.

The Manager's Report presents the Manager's personal results. This includes all of his Customized Organizational Inquiry items results, the value of the six Desired Organizational Characteristics, the twelve Holonomic Processes, the 29 Leadership Practices, and the six dynamic congruency conditions. Along side each result is the average of those who work for him who have completed the HALO exercise. There are statistical comparisons of the differences. There are even line graphs with the Manager's results directly superimposed on the results for all employees. The Manager is given the facts in both table or graphical form. These results allow the Manager to quickly compare results. That way he knows the extent to which he is either in tune or "out-of-step" with his employees.

The last section of the approximately 15 page (it varies with the number of COI items) Manager's Report are suggestions for follow-up. Reviewing the Organizational White Paper, along side the Manager's Report and the Open-Ended Responses Report is extra helpful. The three standard reports provide multiple information sources by which to fully grasp the nature of the challenges and opportunities facing the Manager.
