LEADERSHIP MODEL AND OUR HALO TECHNOLOGIES.
DOES HALO ADDRESS ETHICAL PRACTICE?
Yes, by directly measuring the ethical decision making.
HALO certainly addresses ethical practices. Concern with ethical behavior is built into the fabric of the methods. The underlying theory behind HALO is the theory of the organizational hologram which features twelve basic processes of adaptation and change. One of them is Holonomic Process 12, Encouraging and Rewarding Ethical Behavior for All Associates. In the theory of the organizational hologram, ethical practice is essential for an organization to be efficiently adaptable. We believe ethical behavior, while good in and of itself, is also highly functional. Ethical behavior simplifies decision making, prevents problems, and is strongly motivational for high quality employees. We believe that merely talking about ethics is not enough. It is also important to support one's employees by personal example and ethical standards.
However, recent events
at Enron, Andersen Consulting, WorldCom, Global Crossings, Citicorp, Adelphia,
and other companies has warned us about the dangers of rogue executives who
can ruin a company by unethical behavior. Some of these companies had an ethics
code and even an ethics officer. Talking and tellling is not the same as doing.
Doing requires courage. Courage is made easier when there is a free exchange
of opinion. The exchange of real information in encouraged by a systemic gathering
of opinion in which the confidentiality of each person's opinions are inviolate.
We think that one way of addressing ethical practices is to use HALO to actually
survey the opinions of employees in an atmosphere of trust and confidentiality.
