68. "The Science of An Organization,
Part III: Organizational Problem Solving During the ODS Process"
ABSTRACT
This is the third part in a series entitled, "The
Science of An Organization". This paper examines organizational problem
solving during the ODS Process. There is a typology of levels of organizational
problems involving three levels in the explicate or observable realm and four
levels in the hidden or implicate realm. The problem of performing a diagnosis
of an organization's problems is a detective game where multiple streams of
information and multiple analyses are combined to identify, formulate, decide,
implement, and audit and review results. This paper contains a linear programming
model to assist in developing recommended solutions to improve organizational
effectiveness.
