43. "Organizational Congruity Tests"

ABSTRACT

The overriding goal of a chief executive officer of an organization is to achieve organizational congruency between his organization and its environment and within his organization. Using the ABC model of the means-end linkages in organizational design, ten conditions of congruency are proposed. Seen through the eyes of the CEO, there is a test of congruency for each of the ten conditions. Following the organizational audit and analysis method, the stages of organizational design are described in terms of the identification and verification of organizational incongruity followed by the effort to arrive at organizational design which is organizationally congruent. The process of selecting a congruent organizational design is described in general terms.
